The who, what, and why behind BREAKING FREE
Hi, my name is Counselor
Jay Thomas Fox and I am offering an affordable and timely solution for
those who suffer from concussions and head injuries from: sports;
accidents; war; issues of mental illness;
military combat trauma; and domestic PTSD. I am offering a tool for those who
desire to care for others, to help prevent tragedy, and to provide workable
options--all in my book: BREAKING FREE.
Hello,
This blog is to
connect with those seeking help and those who seek to help others.
BREAKING FREE is "A textbook for churches, schools and
families to use to help this new generation of hurting people" Dr. Lee, May
2018.
Mission Statement: To reach
individuals, Veterans, First-Responders, their families, and those who suffer
with stress and anxiety, in small groups of 2-8 called Stress Support Groups
(SSG), led by a Group Leader, meeting in controlled and safe settings, either
in-person or online, with others in like situations.
Target Markets: Veterans and current
Military members who carry with them wounds, both physical and invisible; those
who have endured traumatic events in their past; those who suffered concussions
and head injuries from sports or accidents; and those who care for and stress
over loved ones stricken by depression and anxiety; all of whom are searching
for solutions to the stigma and stress of visible and invisible brain injuries.
(This is my new blog to post important topics
and to give you a place to speak your mind. The first topic is to hear from you
what issue or condition do you have, or think you have, and the different
therapies that you (or a friend or loved one) have tried for PTSD, mTBI,
stress, or the stigma form physical or invisible injuries; but have not yet
worked as you hoped they would.)
Solutions to issues of great interest: Social
stigma, PTSD, concussions, and killer Stress.
Social Stigma from injuries to the body
and or the brain. Position: People suffer depression and commit suicide at an
alarming rate (22 per day military related) for lack of knowledge, support, and
care: BREAKING FREE solves this.
PTSD and Concussions (mTBI) change a person. Position: Some methods work, and some don’t;
however, there is nothing out there available that can work for every
individual—until now.
Stress Kills, it harms, it steals, it
destroys lives, families, companies, and churches. Medication and psychotherapy
are not the best answer any longer. Position: Stress can be handled by applying
my teaching acronym: E.D.S.A.M. (Education, Direction, Support, Application,
and Management).
Education about invisible injuries and stress,
Direction and the steps to take,
Support to ensure growth,
Application of tools and activities in a positive way,
Management of learned skills to lesson/abolish stress, stigma, and anxiety.
Q. Why did you write this book? Four main reasons:
Educate small groups of hurting
individuals on change; Build a
following of motivated people to venture out and find those who are hurting; Save a life by providing the right
information at the right time—prior to harming self or others; and Fulfill a personal mission of 1 Thes.
5:14, “Admonish the willful, encourage the fainthearted, and help the weak”.
This is the mission I am on, not only in my counseling practice, but through
writing and distributing this 2nd ed. book, BREAKING FREE.
From Dr. Tim Lee,
“Every
generation faces new challenges than the generation before them. Ours is no
different. With so many wars going on in the world and our men and women in our
military facing both physical and mental injuries (PTSD) from these wars, plus
so many acts of foreign and domestic terrorism including it seems larger
numbers of school shootings we are seeing so much mental illness and families,
friends and pastors and churches are face with the challenge of trying to help
the many people who are hurting. Well, a brand new “help” is here. Jay
Thomas Fox has written what I believe will be a monumental help, even a
textbook for churches, schools and families to use to help this new generation
of hurting people. The problems are real. We can either sweep them under the
rug or we can do something positive to help. BREAKING FREE gives us the tools to help. Our generation needs this
book!” (Dr. Tim Lee of Tim Lee Ministries)
